Once you reduce activity in your daily life you body will seek out substitute rewards in place of endorphin and for many eating becomes the replacement. Not surprisingly less exercise and more food can only have one outcome, weight gain. And once the process has begun it is a downward spiral, motivation suffers with even less exercise becoming more regular and lethargy becomes the norm with potential for depression. Now you are not only missing out on your endorphin hits but you are now receiving negative responses from your body which in turn you feed even more because at least that makes you feel good and the more the better. Little by little you have slid down the slippery weight gain path, barely recognizing the signs, dismissing them as not so bad when first noticed and ignoring them as they progress. Usually it is not till someone mentions the fact, you are teased on the street, or you body sends a health warning that you sit up and take notice. By which time your habits are well and truly entrenched in your daily life.

Not only has your body grown used to food being its primary stimulation but all of your life revolves around eating.
